So it's my partners birthday, i did take my pill today. Will i be sick if i had just ONE beer? Please help.

I hope you had a great time. I've found that since being on duramine my ability to drink large volumes has gone, also stronger alcohol like whiskey and bourbons make me feel rather sick. And by sick I mean while drinking them. I can have a few beers and enjoy them but that's about it.

That's a good thing though!

:)

I didn't feel sick after drinking beer at a friends wedding... I would say I roughly had about 8-10 during the night. The only thing that made me sick was finding out I had gained weight from it!
Haven't had a drink since lol as much as i'd like to go out and have a few drinks... I just don't feel like gaining the weight I have tried so hard to lose!

I went to my husband high school reunion on the weekend and had a fair few Kahluha and cokes, I didnt feel sick just full
I think that the only thing that happens is the pill doesnt work, you get hungry whilst drinking :-0

Moderation for sure! I never weigh myself the day after a few drinks unless I've been for a jog or walk before getting on the scales.

Morning everyone - A question for you all.

We are all adults, we might not necessarily be paragons of virtue, we have friends, we like to socialise and quite often that involves a nice glass of wine or a well brewed beer. Even if it is a small pick me up after a hard day at work or stressful day with the kids, for many it is one of life’s pleasures in the same way that good food is. So does anyone have any advice for this course of medication? Is it complete abstinence or drink in moderation? Should you avoid drinking an alcoholic drink within an x amount of hours from taking the medication?
Anyone's thoughts, advice or experience will be gratefully received.

Regards - Stephen

Hi Stephen I also read on google that you not allowed to take any alcohol while on Duromine and I was WHATTTT?????as socialising with a few drinks is very much part of what we do. So I was very sceptical & scared to take any alcohol. But on day two of being on D I had a drink with clients (never took so long to finish one drink) and I was waiting for the dizziness......increased heart rate.....the works but it didn't come. The next time I got a little braver and had two drinks and still nothing. Needles to say 4 weeks down the line I am still enjoy my drink (prefered drink for me in scottish whiskey, very low in calories too) and I have not had any side effect.

So maybe first try and have a drink at home incase you do react to the alcohol. But always keep it moderate;-) And for me the amount of hours after taking D & having a drink didn't really matter.

Hello Stephen!
Well, I know what you mean and I agree that a glass of good wine helps sometimes to relax after a long and stressful day. However I should warn you (since I myself had an experience with Duromine) that alcohol may worsen the side effect. Of course a small amount of it will not be fatal when combined with the pills, yet may intensify dizziness, nausea, palpitation, etc. You see both Duromine and alcohol are stimulants, they act in the central nervous system. When you use them together, side effect may become worse. For instance: nervousness, dry mouth, nausea, dizziness, vomiting, etc. Or if you haven't experienced any side effects yet, they can occur if you drink alcohol and take Duromine pill.
So, my opinion - better avoid this combination.
Better safe than sorry, right?;)

Take care, Stephen.

Our forum gives with one hand and then takes it all away with the other.:) Ok, that’s understandable. I’m also partial to a Scottish Whisky LouLou especially the big peaty Islay malts (Laphroaig, Ardbeg, Caol Ila, Lagavulin etc) so that’s a tough gig. At least they won’t go off!

Lucky you, Loulou. Yet I wouldn't give such advise to another person, since we all know Duromine (and alcohol) acts on different people differently. So, your experience is positive for you, but I wouldn't take that risk to experiment on my body, if I were Stephen. Luckily he doesn't have any side effects at this point.

Loulou, you said that your scotch contains low calories, but do you know that ANY kind of alcohol increases appetite because it is a psychostimulant, so you may start snacking without even noticing that? And little by little you may gain your kgs back.

Moreover, alcohol may neutralize the effect of the pills, and what? All your efforts come to zero. What a disappointment.

All I want to say is that everybody is different and if there is a slight % of unpleasant adverse reactions when you combine alcohol with weight loss pills - I choose not to take a risk.

Hi Kate
I did not know this. With a previous diet I was on my nutritionist told me that if I wanted to have a drink I should rather have scotch. And I must say I kept my weight at goal weight for two years after the diet with balanced diet & jogging, until I fell pregnant with my baby two year ago. But now I know, thanks for sharing.

Sorry Stephen didn't mean to mislead you.

I just share my knowledge and experience about weight loss and Duromine. Didn't mean to hurt anybody;)
No offence, Lou! Our health is more important than our temporal desires, right?

ps. Stephen, still be careful whatever variant you choose.

There's no need to apologise LouLou.
I will Kate.

Heya everyone.

I know not to drink alcohol while taking duromine.
I have 7 D-pills left before my next script. On the 24th Nov I fly back home for my 21st....and for a week I am most definitely going to be drinking. Will that affect me if my duromine finishes on the 23rd...?

And my doctor didnt say when to start or when not to start my next script of pills....do I have a break from them or do I take them when I come back from my 21sr holiday (2nd Dec)

Please help ♥

I'm not certain but I would assume that the Duromine would still be working its way out of your system for a couple of days after you stop taking it. I would be taking the new script of pills the day after you finish the last script.
I guess you have to ask yourself what is more important to you, being healthy and losing weight, or being drunk for a week. It's also highly likely that you will put on some of the weight you have lost during that week, so is it really worth it? You can still have a fun week away without the drinking or breaking your healthy diet.
But that's just my opinion anyway, It's your body after all.
Goodluck! :)

I wont be drinking every day. It is my 21st and I do want to have a few drinks with family and friends. I will still eat healthy and drink water exercise.
I don't plan to drink bottles of wine or vodka. It will be the toasts and the celebration drinks.
I should be alright for a week and if I do put on kgs I just work harder to take them of when I get back.

Bekky, of course I wouldn't suggest you drinking while of the pills. But considering that you are going to stop the pills the day before drinking...well, you can try. Just some wine maybe. Still, you should be ready to expect some side effects: nervousness, dry mouth, nausea, dizziness, vomiting, etc. And there is one more thing you should know about ANY alcohol drink. It enhances your appetite. Believe me, it's true. Because it is a psychostimulant, so you may start snacking without even noticing that. And little by little you may gain your kgs back. But that is the worst scenario, everything is in your hands. Anyway, if you feel like you really want to have some drinks with your family&friends, just pay attention at any changes in your state. Have a nice celebration!

Thankyou. I will stay strong for next week. My partner knows that im having a week off of D so ive told him to watch what im eating incase I don't ect ect. So I think im pretty set.

Still cant believe im turning 21...!!!
