Hi there,

I just started Duromine today. I've been started on the 30mg dose and took my first tablet this morning. Haven't really felt too much, but I'm assuming it will take a few days to kick in.

I've suffered from anxiety and depression for most of my life and in the last year I have tried to address it with medication, which has caused me to gain about 30KGs and also made me quite lethargic. I've come off of those and on to Duromine and the hope is to get my weight back down and get back into a regular exercise routine.

A bit about me.... I'm male, 22 years old and currently weighing in at about 108KGs.

This is my first time on a support forum and I'm probably going to need all the help I can get! :)

Now at midnight, I am now realizing I do have that energy. I have woke up every few minutes the last few hours. And I looked at my food diary for today and realized I haven't eaten much at all! I thought I had way more.... awesome as!

Many users experience very mild side effects, so you are one of the lucky ones! Don't wait and expect other side effects.
Insomnia - try taking the D earlier, cut out caffeine and do some exercise to burn of the excess energy. A nice long walk after dinner perhaps?
And make sure you eat enough. You do not want your body to go in starvation mode;)

@ Audrey3: So far I must say it's not as bad as I anticipated. I sleep a full 8 hours, and I love the fact that I wake up with a lot of energy. I used to snooze for an hour before...
I however feel like I have hot flushes, stange feeling, but goes away quickly.
And best of all, no more hungers pangs and cravings for sugar! Am having 3 low carb meals and drinking about 2,5 litres of water, am forever thirsty.

Wow. Great job! Keep it up.. :)

You sound like you've been doing your homework. :)

Increase your protein and perhaps no carbs in the afternoon / at night, would be my only suggestion. Protein makes you feel fuller for longer AND aids your muscles. By having no carbs at night, it wont just "sit there" undigested all night leaving you feeling bloated in the morning. You are able to work it off throughout the day if it is eaten in the am. Leaving you feeling slimmer in no time. ;-)

Hi,
I just got duromine from my doc yesterday. He only gave me 2 months' supply. I weigh 85kg and I have about 20 kilos to lose. Hope to lose at least half of it in 2 months. I hope duromine helps with the carb cravings and binge eating.

Thank you Booty; Fortunately my craving for carbos is disappearing. Thanks for the tip, I will definitely increase my protein intake. Today am going to start gym, for some light aerobics or yoga... haven't had the energy to go to the gym in years, literally! I feel renewed. have decided to weigh on Thursday, which will be my day 7! I cant wait!!;)

Hi Booty,
I really hope to lose weight this time and keep it off. My weight has fluctuated from 60s to now this 80s. My only concern is I am 40 next year. Just wondering if I can lose as much weight as some other people in this forum who are younger. I don't know if my metabolism is going to work against me. I do exercise regularly. At least 4 times a week. I jog and do some HIIT exercises at home. So far I have only managed to get bigger and not smaller. I guess I was eating too much as I thought I was doing enough exercise.

You will be surprised as to how much weight can come off. I lost 4kg in my first week. (I am assuming it was all water weight). Since then I have lost an additional 2kg. Today is day 26. I have noticed my clothes are fitting better. Today i tried on and am currently wearing a shirt i liked and bought as a motivator when my son was a newborn. 27 mths later and its fitting.. Keep up your great work hun. Youve got this*

Oh sorry hun I'm in South Africa, can't help much. Good luck though I hope you find a doctor who can help.

danica, thanks for replying :) x

I have a dry mouth and some muscle tension in my back, but other than that, I sleep very well.

Hi im starting tomorrow. Any words of advice?
Can I still drink coffee?

I didn't stay on Duromine for long - turns out I had a severe middle ear infection as I started the medication and was not doing well and had to stop it. Not sure when I will or if I will start it again just yet. However, in regards to my few days of experience is that, Duromine will increase your heart rate quite a bit and coffee can do the same thing. Chances are, you could end up feeling worse drinking coffee. I would say, if possible, stick to water as it's going to have the best affect and keep you hydrated. :)
