Just thought I would start documenting my experiences with taking duromine.
I am South Australian, female, 23 years old, 168 cm and started duromine 4 days ago. My weight was just over 74 kg when I visited a doctor in a walk-in clinic to get a new thyroxine prescription for my Hashimoto's. I mentioned to him that even though I exercise regularly and maintain a healthy diet, I can't seem to reach a healthy BMI. I was wondering if it was related to my condition, even though my levels are normal at the moment. He then suggested I take duromine and wrote me a script, but emphasised that he usually only gave it to patients with a BMI of 30 or more.
Heaviest: 80 kg
Duromine starting weight: 74 kg
Day 1: I knew nothing about duromine so I took it along with my thyroxine medication (I had been without for two days) straight after my appointment at 1 pm on an empty stomach. I then had a banana and went on a 8 km return hike up Mt. Lofty - a relatively small mountain on the outskirts of Adelaide (where I live) - and completed it at a much better pace than usual.
I felt amazing for the rest of the day and had an Asian broth for dinner. I wasn't even slightly tempted by the Lindt chocolates in the pantry my friend had given me. When I retired for the evening, I could not shut off and lay awake until 3 am (not uncommon for me as I often work night shifts). After probably 4 hours of sleep I felt strangely energised.
