Hi Wynona!

I just started Duromine on Friday 16th of October. Starting weight was 164.5kg, after having blood test done it was found that i was insulin resistant and that why i wasnt losing any weight even though i was doing heaps of exercise.

Since Friday i have dropped 2.8kg.

Good luck with your journey and hopefully we will both have an awesome result.
Hi Bouncer!!!!

That's fantastic to hear!!!! 2.8kg in a weekend is the stuff dreams are made of!

I don't know about you but I'd like to keep in contact with you as we are similar weights. It'll be interesting to see how much we've lost in the first month. :)

This is a journey I have taken the.first step or rather hobbled the.first step in my crutches and have no intentions of.going back.

It's so exciting to think that 6-9months from now we.could under 100kg.

I hope you keep up the good work.

Hi Wynona,

Good luck! Today is my first day starting on Duromine 30mg & I am currently a depressing 156.3. Looking forward to reading about your journey & looking forward to starting mine :)

Hi Wynona,
Id love to keep reading about your journey. Its exciting to think where we could be in a couple of months.

Have either of you had any side effects yet?

Hi Terri,

I can't wait to go on to 30mg now that I realise that my dosage is the lowest I am concerned.

However, I am happy for you! Just know that although it may take some time you will never weigh 156.3 ever again.

I think that's the biggest positive, you're probably already lighter. Another positive, you've just gained a new follower, I'd like to follow your journey too.

Goodluck!

Hi Bouncer,

No side effects just yet.

Just a little dry mouth and running to the bathroom every 5 minutes which is a little tough when you're on a moonboot and crutches . Duromine must be a diuretic and I'm probably retaining a ton of water weight have never been to the loo this many times in my life.

So far I've had a very dry mouth no matter how much I drink & a bit nauseas, headache has just hit too. Haven't actually been to the bathroom as much as usual though

Hi all,

Today was my first day on 30mg.

To give you some background, I've always been pear shaped with large butt and hips; something I embraced a long time ago. In the past 2 years I finished uni and started working full time behind a desk where I managed to put on 15kg. I have been taking boxing classes 4 times per week for the last 6 months so I guess I can blame some of the extra kgs on muscle but lets not kid ourselves...the cheeseburgers definitely contributed more.

Last week I went to the doctors and because I fall into the "Obese" category on the BMI chart, I am apparently the perfect candidate for Duromine. I never thought of myself as obese but there it was on the chart so it must be right o_O.

Long story short, I want to be back to where I was 2 years ago at 67kg.

I've tried shakes, smoothies, weight watchers, 5:2 and low calorie healthy eating plans but gave up quickly. I've tried Duromine before so this time, unlike all the other times I've put myself on a diet, I have decided to take a slightly different approach and track my progress from the beginning till the end of my duromine run. I'm hoping this will keep me motivated and help me see it all the way through. I plan to update my progress on a weekly basis but also talk about any side effects I experience during the week.

So here it goes:

Day 1, Week 1

Weight: 82 kg
Size: 12
Height: 165 cm
Waist: 99 cm
Hips: 113 cm

kg to goal weight: 15 kg

Took the capsule first thing when I woke up at 6:30 am. Didn't feel anything until I was at work and it hit 1pm and I realised I had been focused on my work the whole time and nearly missed lunch. Normally I get hungry at around 10am and have a snack and then count down till lunch at 12:30 so it was definitely a shock to see the time. I wasn't hungry but ate my tuna salad (cliché I know) because I didn't want it to go to waste. Stayed focused the rest of the day, went for an hour walk when I got home, did 3 loads of washing and ironing, made dinner and cleaned up and still not feeling tiered. Only downside was I had an extremely dry mouth all day but did drink about 3L of water so that helped. I've heard some horror stories about sleeping so we'll see how that goes tonight.

So there's my first update - the first of 3 months worth :)

Good luck, biscuitlover! You can do it! ;)

Last year I lost a lot of weight on my own, I slacked off I have put back nearly 30kg this year. I am an emotional eater. That is a problem. Lots of excuses work, kids...I could go on and on...

Went to the dr yesterday thinking I would have to convince him to give me Duromine 30 but he quickly wrote a prescription for 40 and said take it for a month, after that it only works half as well and the month after that not much. I will be going back for another script if all all goes well this month.

I really need to use this time to get focused on eating healthy and trying to maintain this for life as you can see from above I easily slip into unhealthy eating based on excuses, emotional eating. Now I hate myself, I have put on so much weight in a year! I feel embarrassed. Hoping this will kick start me again as I can't seem to stay at it long enough to lose it this year and my weight just keeps going up and up.

Not able to share with people in real life, not even telling my husband. So will share here.

Day One
Starting weight- 121.9kg Height 168cm
Goal weight 80kg

Took tablet at 5.50 to try and avoid the sleeping issues I have read about.

Symptoms 5hours in-
I felt nothing when I woke at 7.30
Still nothing at 8.30 and 9.30. Felt like I could eat, no racing heart beat or anything really.
10am- started to feel like my body is humming and a bit spacey, nothing I can't handle so far.
My throat feels funny- not sure if this is the dry mouth people are talking about??? Heavy head feeling like a headache is about to start.

Had a smoothie with protein powder, water, frozen berries and chia seeds at 10.30, will have that again at lunch time. Ate a few almonds.

Will update tomorrow night after work with sleeping first night on Duromine, side effects, weight

Hoping this may help others later who are wondering about duromine and side effects, results etc....

Day One continued
Nearly 12 hours and day has gone pretty well so far. I still feel like I want food, but not really hungry (habit I guess)
Headache did not come on, but head feels heavy on and off during the day as well as the buzzy feeling that feels like humming.
Bit worried about sleep tonight, but feeling tired so hopefully all goes ok.
Did not have the burst of energy I have read about from everybody, would be nice...my house could use a good clean lol
Overall I was pretty scared to start, but the day has gone better than I thought. Fingers crossed for a good night and all goes well for the remainder of the week.

Great start to your first day:) You will feel a lot better in a few day's time when your body gets used to the Duromine. Keep at it;)

Thanks Audrey :)

Day 2 update
Slept pretty well. I go to bed pretty late anyway 12.15 and had my alarm go off at 5.30, (took tablet at this time). Woke once and got back to sleep ok.
I did weigh myself today and was down exactly one kg.
Felt pretty good all day busy at work but around 4.30 pm felt spacey and felt like it was hard to focus my eyes. Still feeling that way now 2 hours later, nothing too bad that I feel like it is too hard to handle.
Ate well all day, but a bit hungry now come tea time.

Hey finding me - I always feel a bit fuzzy in the afternoon. I've been feeling better this week since I saw a nutritionist and got a proper meal plan done up for me :) I would certainly recommend it - your doctor should be able to put you on a government subsidised Heath plan which means the first visit is around $55 then you get 5 follow ups free!

I wonder why that is LemonSweets, funny that hits in the afternoon. Today I had it again, but not as bad as yesterday. I will look into a nutritionist that sounds like you have a good plan LemonSweets.

UPDATE Day 3
Horrible sleep last night. Did the exact same as yesterday, late night, took tablet early and then woke at 3am and just kept watching the clock till I got up at 5.30. hmmmmm, hopefully just a once off.
Got on the scales this morning and had put on weight....sigh!
Hoping just because I had a salty dinner last night. I really need to stop weighing as I weighed at the end of the day thinking it would be back down like yesterday arvo ...nope up. I have eaten well all day, smoothies, rice crackers a few almonds.

Have a look on the thread "side effects"- there are some very good advice for insomnia in a sticky thread.
The best is to only weight yourself once a week. Try to do so in the morning. It is not a good idea to weight every week. I did it as well and it is just discouraging. Once a week is much better. You will either lose some or be the same. Our weight fluctuate every day due to so many factors. And remember to take measurements as well. Sometimes the scales are not to kind but you do lose cm's which is just as great!

Great advice Audrey3. I get super obsessive when I am trying to lose weight. I had to try hard but I bypassed the scales and did not weigh in this morning. Plus I don't weigh after food or drink as I think it will mess up my weight so I just have to get up quickly and have a big drink LOL then I will not bother with the scales. :)
I did read that section a while back about sleep but will go back and reread and use some of those techniques to help.

UPDATE DAY 4
No weigh in this morning - yay for me resisting :)

Sleep- so much better last night. I was exhausted. Busy 12 hour work day and very little sleep the day before and I slept straight through to 6.30. I would usually be tired and stay in bed on a Saturday but got up feeling good. So maybe this is giving me more energy just not an overload.
Took tablet at 6.30 this morning so will have to see how that goes tonight.

Side effects- not really too many. Feel bouts of spaciness throughout the day but not for long periods then it passes. Dry mouth every now and again, which reminds me to drink so that is handy :) A bit headachey in the mornings. Have taken something to help going to the loo (blush) but that could be change of diet related.

Aim to today- get in some exercise.

QUESTION- I read somewhere that coffee effects the drug and gets it out of your system quicker. Wasn't on this site but another. Is that true? I drink more coffee when I am eating healthy to avoid eating. Plus I take the tablet in the morning then have a coffee not long after, would hate to be diluting the effect.

Hey finding me - I've been taking benefibre since day two to help me as well lol you can try to keep your dietary fibre up which will help as well as lots of water which I'm sure you already know :)

Okay update time.
Weigh in tomorrow as that will be one week.
Had a sneaky weigh in today and not a huge week one weight loss for me so far :(
Sleep a few days where I wake up early and can't sleep. Overall not too bad. Last night great sleep.
Still hungry some days which is annoying, but resisting the urge to snack.
Have exercised a few days and stayed mostly within my kilojoules or a little under. Making healthy choices and resisting the unhealthy foods.
No extra energy for me still.
Will report tomorrow with week one weight in...

Was feeling a little down last night thinking that I was not going to lose much. I did hope for more but am happy, it was a good start. Would have loved to be one of the 5 kg people but I think I did ok.

Week one update
Start weight 121.9
Current weight 118.7
Loss of 3.2kg.

I have stuck to eating well but only 2 days of exercise. This week going to up the exercise.

Bring on week 2!
