Hey Nassa,

How are you feeling so far? I am on day 5 now, and the first 3 days were horrendous. I had a starting weight of 132kg (so similar to you!). I lost around 22kg by changing my diet and exercising a little (I also have knee problems), but I've been stuck as 110kg for a while now, hence the duromine. Good luck with your journey!

Alethea

Hi

Well I only started today as I got sick and was in bed yesterday, but so far its gone good felt less hungry, but very thirsty and got a bit of a upset tummy nothing major lol , but am determined to loose the weight this time, having arthritis in both knees is horrible some days cant even walk, hence weighht loss , thanks for the message and good luck to you to :) will keep you posted after I weigh in :)

Hello there, my busy bee!!! Sounds like you are engaging strongly into the interval bike riding. It does make you feel competitive to yourself, your own strength. =)) I remember when I was at the gym, somewhere at the beginning of my weight loss journey… The coach usually suggested a circle aerobic training: step machine, bike, ellipse machine, treadmill, skis. 4 minutes each approach – 2 sets. With time, I built quite a considerable stamina. It was hard for me to sweat at all. So I started riding longer at a higher level… then, the coach offered doing the interval riding. It was such a nice change, especially when you are looking at the seconds count down (I used this measure, not the km =)) ), and you ride like crazy 40 seconds, and it’s 5, 4, 3, 2 …. And that last second seemed to last half an hour. =)) But it does add a flavor of challenge, something interesting, something to make yourself push harder and realize you are truly working out and doing your best. At least that was how I felt. Felt like a Schwarzenegger =))))))).

The thing that also makes me happy is the fact that you’ve started doing the abs exercises. Make sure you do them correctly. You do need to strengthen your back first. I know, you’re smart, and I know that you know. But I know that I know you have to struggle hard with it and you have to be very careful. So I will be your old grandma that tells you not to forget to put your coat on over and over again. =))

97’s really close. SO it’s time for good food choices. I see you keep increasing the amount of sweet (even though sugar free) treats into your nutrition… are you sure you need more lollies a day than one, biscuits? What are you going to do when you stop Duromine? Ok.. you know yourself better. I am just worried for this important part of Duromine use – the necessity to develop healthy eating habits. I was a seriously devoted sweet tooth. Duromine helped me dishabituate myself from sweets. Rarely I eat something sweet… when you aren’t used to it, and convince yourself it’s deadly bad for you, you find it super sweet the next time you decide to have a slice of cake. Ok.. I think, I should stop writing right now. You’re probably yawning already… Have a great day!! And to all your fans – a great week and may your weight loss be a very impressive one!

Hello Tamara! Welcome to the forum! Welcome into the Duromine club! I see you can commit to a life changing course, yet it’s hard for you to keep to it for a long time. I guess, Duromine for you is the kick you need to start changes that you can take with you throughout your entire life. I hope Duromine helps you fight the cravings and the appetite. Though, judging from your words, you do have the emotional hunger, as well. You eat when you’re bored. If you find it difficult to cope with this part, you will have to find something to keep your hands busy with, or go for a walk instead of eating. Let’s see how it goes. I generally want to wish you all the luck on your way! You can do this!

Hello Nassa! New Zealand, welcome! =))) Hope your Duromine experience will turn into a huge success. When you will be looking back 3 months later, you won’t believe you managed to achieve so much! In fact, you already made it once (- 26 kilos – FANTASTIC!). However, if you are determined to lose weight the same as strong as you were in 2015, I know for sure you will succeed! (Besides, you have a very serious incentive – your weight loss will help you get rid of pain!)

This time, everything should be done properly, so that you avoid writing your first message in 2019 again. =) You should focus on proper healthy eating regime, watch your water consumption to be hydrated enough, and add up the exercising. There must be something you can do to burn calories through exercising and to tone your muscles. If you don’t have the possibility to address to a doctor, I might try to find some ideas to help you out. However, when it comes to any health condition, it is always best to consult a healthcare professional in the area.

Have a nice start and a successful road. Keep updating and don’t look back!

DAY 2 on DUROMINE

Well what can I say the energy, the bursts of not wanting to sleep but run around the house lol basically! I had slept maybe 4-6 hours if I'm lucky last night. I attempted to sleep at 10pm and couldn't sleep till 12am then woke up again at 2.30am, 4.30am and then my little girl was awake at 6.30am! Geez what a night but I actually feel so energised this morning? Anyone else feel this?

Weigh in this morning 93.4kg

Hey!

I don't really know how to use this site but I do have a blog post if that's what you mean?

I agree with keeping a diary it's kind of good to come on here and know you can say exactly how you feel because no one knows who you are. I have a lot of friends but no one I'm really comfortable talking about or disclosing my weight too! I kind of feel like I'm the DFF (designated fat friend) lol but I will try hard and see where this takes me.

I'm sorry to hear of your troubles getting pregnant, life really isn't fair in that way. I often wonder how there are all these very young teenagers with children and no means to support them and then mature people that are desperately trying. I think that you are going really well tho and being healthy and dropping the weight will certainly help

I used to be so active (says everyone) lol. I just really struggle with time and everything. I run my own business so sometimes it's really hard to make time for myself. I will get there tho, however I do know that I won't be doing it every day. I've made a massive change in my diet and I'm really hoping that's paid off. I need to set myself measurable goals or I will never get there.

Tomorrow is my first weigh day. I'm nervous because I feel like if I haven't lost weigh I might give up and say it's not worth it. Even a kg I would be happy with just to show that it's paying off!

I've had a really bad day today, went for a long walk but I've felt really dehydrated despite drinking heaps of water. I cheated and had 2 coffees and a alcoholic drink after work. Plus I'm having potatoe with my dinner lol I've been light headed too and felt really emotional! Hopefully I get a good sleep and tomorrow is a new day.

Thanks for all your tips, it's really great to have some support . Sometimes help comes in many different forms.

Thanks

Thanks tryingtoloosethechub

Just wanted to say congratulations again on your loss its the start of a new beginning for you :) I hope you got a good sleep and your feeling much better today

Hi April yes it does make that 1km go fast, its helped me to focus more and have a purpose on the bike and yes now i can push myself and increase on what I can do.... 2 minutes is really my limit but if i can have some rest in between I can go again:) which is what i did yesterday.... so I should call you Schwarzena  how long has it been since you lost your weight?

Yes I needed to add something extra for my belly ...so I googled exercise for bad backs the tummy one I am on all fours.. I bring my right arm out and my back left leg and then meet together under my tummy area I am sure over time I will get better I must hold my head at the right angle or it makes my neck sore... the main thing it doesn't hurt my back and it should tighten my belly I do rest in between as well.... Yes I have a good idea of what I can and cant do and even when I dance if I move my foot in the wrong position etc straight away my body tells me stop Ive learnt to listen to my body but also try new things after all unless I try how can I say it wont work... o_O

I do have a Pilates machine (not a very dear one) and that will come into play soon too, the exercise physiologist that I saw last year gave me some that I can do using it....plus the resistant band she said if i tighten my core it will help my back... I have issues laying on my back so that makes things hard I hope that even if over time I can lay 2 minutes that will be 2 minutes that i will be able to do different exercises.

Oh that 97 is so close and so far.... my weight this week I have to ignore because of the hormone changes/period etc hence my craving for sweets... my weight was up again this morning yet even thou I am bloated my tummy looked very flat? not sure how

I know sweets are very bad I have so many here at home I always have if i didn't I dont think I would be so good... but because I have them there when I want... I think that is why I dont pig out... I am usually good as in I can have blocks of chocolate and not touch them or packets of yummy biscuits and only eat 1-2 out of it..... because I love it I now do my best to eat the lowest calorie or sugar free treat when I do. You are right if I cut it out things will be super sweet when I do eat them... I so love my sweets :(

I feel that duromine might not be working as well as the first few weeks and I might be left using most of my own will power at the moment I have 2 weeks to go and will probably ask for the one up if things persist my craving for something sweet after dinner has returned, no more dry mouth and it takes longer for me to build a perspiration up.... I will see if I am still that way next week.. I guess this week I must ensure I am good when being bado_O and hope that this is just temporary

Hey Kyl133, it’s so cool you’re already at this weight. Such a huge progress in just two days. The excess water is gone and it’s time to lose fat. =)) I am very happy you came with a very comprehensive approach to your weight loss process. I don’t have anything to add to it. ;)) you already have all the recommendations. All you have to do is to thoroughly follow them and enjoy the view of these kilos melting in front of your eyes.

As for the energy boost, I felt exactly like you feel. I cleaned my house top to bottom, and cleaned it again. This energy is a great kick to a lazy butt (that was my lazy butt back then =)) ) to get up from the couch and start exercising like mad. ;)) Sorry about your back. Hopefully exercising together with the weight loss will help you get rid of the pain. It helped me, though, of course, not 100%, but I rarely have it now (compared to the permanent pain it’s a great progress!)

Best of luck to you and I’ll keep my fingers crossed for new weight loss! Have a nice day

Tuesday 21/February

Hi Everyone

So today I put on 100g 98.8 but this weeks weight doesn't really count due to my period (and lack of bowel movement:oops:) I have had a relax day today and thought that maybe I might start working my top half hard one day and lower half the next.... my doggie wasn't well either... she has cancer (she has had a few big operations and so far we are monitoring the other lumps)... but today i noticed she was going to the toilet too many times and had blood in it.... so I spent most of the afternoon trying to catch some urine so it could be tested... and then took her to the vet .... hopefully she just has an infection and will improve after 3 days of medication

so

Breakfast was 2 boiled eggs (my bantam eggs) Lunch was a shake with banana, yogurt, mint and milk/water dinner was a chicken and prawn soup with veggies snacks Ive had a protein bar and some dried peas/ peanuts and 2 sugar free lollies

Exercise wise ive done 20 of my tummy exercises, I did approx 30 different arm ones with the 1kg weight.... and will ride a min 1km at least before bed but i will do 20 fast 10 slow o_O

I hope everyone is doing well till tomorrow

Dee :)

Schwarzena… khm… sounds so cool NOT. =)))) man, I was so funny, when I think of my proud face back then. =)) But it’s a good thing. You should be very proud of yourself after every achievement, after every exercise you finish, after every piece of cake you reject. If you need it, you should pat your shoulder, or give yourself a wink in the mirror, or just hug yourself in your mind. It’s good. You always have to support yourself and give yourself highest appreciation for the job done.

My story is I gave birth to my first daughter when I was 23. I gained 13 kilos then, and managed to lose 9 within a year after giving birth, so it was +4 and in the next year I gained 3 more. So, by the time I got pregnant for the second time 2 years later, I was 7-8 kilos heavier than my perfect weight (58-60 kilos, height 168. Heavy bones =))) but I look my best at 60 kg). During the second pregnancy, I gained a horrible amount of kilos – 20. I had back issues, so wasn’t really moving that much, had enough things to do with the younger daughter and house chores. So the weight I came home with, when giving birth for the second time, was 86 kg. 5 kilos built up during the year after birth, because the back was still giving me pain, and my younger girl slept soooo badly. I was literally falling from tiredness. Of course, where was I supposed to take the energy from? Right – the food. I realized what I did to myself when we were invited to a friend’s birthday party and I could not fit into anything I had, nor could I find any clothes that would look nice on me. I got on scales… and cried 3 days in a row. I just couldn’t stop crying. I was seriously depressed… both because of realizing how much I gained without noticing and, of course, the constant tiredness. 6 months I lived in a crazy house. Then, all of a sudden my precious girl started sleeping the whole night long. The first night I slept without waking up was, probably the best thing for me back then. ;)) It took me a month to get back to normal condition and start thinking of a good weight loss plan. Of course, the “best idea” was to try a diet, then another, and another. 6 months later my weight was the same. Again, the idea of developing a good weight loss plan came to me, and I started searching, gathering information, visiting some seminars. I knew I couldn’t resist the temptations, so I asked my doctor for Duromine. It was a three months course + dieting + exercising. One year later, I got to my initial weight and I am maintaining it up till now, for 5 years already. The experience also helped me change my profession and become a personal trainer and a healthy eating adviser. =)) that’s my weight loss story. You probably hate me already for writing so much. Sorry.. I am quite a talkative person. that is if you haven’t noticed it yet. =)))

So sorry about your dog. I wish her a fast recovery from her current condition and I wish you strength to accept it and keep fighting for this life.

Ok, so this week, we’re not expecting any weight loss results. It’s ok, yet it doesn’t mean that you have to give in to your cravings. Fight these bastards! =))

Btw, I forgot, you are still on 30 mg? If yes, and you feel no appetite suppression, you might consider visiting your doctor for a prescription to 40 mg (as you wanted before, if I am not mistaken), and leave the remaining 30 mg Duromine for the gradual discontinuation you will have to go through. Thus, you will be able to lower the dose by the end of the course, and slightly get off of it.

Well done with the exercises and way to go! Dee, have a lovely day! (again sorry for the long story of mine)

Day 1: yesterday was my day off and my bf has gone to melbourne for a week so i thought perfect time to start duromine as to not bother him if i experience any side effects. I took the pill at 6:30am. I was tired in general most of the day as i did have a terrible night sleep the night before but i found the duromine still gave me energy. I had a 375ml can of coke zero (i have 1 a day, everyday) at 10am and wasn't hungry so i didn't push my self to eat. I did a 30 minute step aerobics workout at 1:30pm, just in my lounge room. I love doing exercise in the comfort of my home as i like to get really sweaty and its conveniant being able to jump in the shower and no one sees you all gross lol. My fitness pal says roughly 400 cals i would burn so thats pretty good for only 30 mins doing something i love i ate my first bit of food at 3:30pm (golden syrup quick oats with skim milk) and that wasn't really because i was hungry, more because i felt a little nauseas i think from exercising on an empty stomach. I then at 6:30pm had 15 smarties (i love chocolate so 15 was very good for me) and then at 7:30 had half a cup of white rice and 1/2 a cup of chilli con carne with kidney beans and mushrooms.

The only symptoms i have had soo far is dry mouth and i had the worst night sleep of my life last night :( i went to bed at 10:30pm, not even sure if i slept or just tossed and turned. Went to the toilet at 2:30am and then just laid in bed untill my alarm went off at 6:30am. I had work today and i was worried how i would be as im a store manager in retail and i dont stop all day and have to be 100% nice to customers at all times lol. Once i took the pill at 6:30 it did give me energy to get through the whole day but the headache i had was soo painfull. I went and bought some panadol and have only taken 2 so far as i hate using pain meds in general.

I normally only drink 600ml of water a day unless i feel i need more. Today i drank 1.5l just because my mouth was soo dry and my voice was crocky from lack of sleep.

Anyway today is the end of day 2. Ive eaten today 2 salsas soft tacos with mince, lettuce, cheese and ranch dressing, 50g smarties and 1/2 a cup rice with 1/2 a cup chicken alfreddo with muchrooms and onions. Im about to go do my 30 min step aerobics and then will have a warm bath to try relax my mind so i can hopefully have a bit better of a sleep. Its hard because you are tired, your eyes are sore and want to close, but your brain just wont stop thinking :( ehh

Anyway will keep posting updates mainly going to use this as my journal :)

Welcome Tamara! We are really glad to see you here.:)

So sorry you have had bad sleep and headache, fortunately painkillers help and maybe you will find something that helps to improve your sleep. If you need some ideas, please check out our 'Side effects' section. My advice is to stay away from electronic devices at least an hour before you're going to bed. You see, I had the same issue, when I was lying in my bed and couldn't fall asleep because of my thoughts, although was feeling extremely tired. Paradox, lol. But I read somewhere that TV, computer and especially smartphones make our eyes and head agitated so we can't sleep for some time. Sometimes a good book helps (just a paper or kindle book), sometimes a calming relax music set on the sleep mode on your TV or elsewhere. I also recommend some camomile or melissa tea before sleep, it relaxes your nervous system after a long and probably stressful working day. What else...Oh! Warm bath maybe?

All in all, you're doing great as far as your diet (except for the coke), drinking water and exercise routine. Just don't push yourself too hard, you will lose the excess weight, you know it takes some time.
Good luck!;)

Hey Tamara. Looks like you do have to wait a little for the side effects to subside. However, there are some tricks people find to avoid severe headaches.. Many say that drinking more water helped them, the others realize their headache was gone after they ate something (too little food can give you a headache even when you’re not on Duromine), other people found it useful to have a couple of sips of coffee (these people are used to drinking coffee daily), even though coffee is not recommended when on Duromine, a sip or two won’t make you too agitated. However, you should not drink coffee too late in the day, since you already have insomnia.

Kate gave a great tip to help you with your sleep issue. I would also advice having a walk before taking the bath.

Btw, many people choose to take Duromine at 5 in the morning, then go to sleep further. Such schedule helps most of them to avoid insomnia. Best of luck and have a great day!

Hello Nassa. I am glad to hear about your decisiveness, and I must admit you really surprised me with your boxing training, in a very pleasant way! Keep it up! I would also suggest adding swimming pool, if you have such a possibility. Water makes miracles! Besides, I am sure your doctor would also suggest swimming as part of the comprehensive arthritis treatment. If you manage to get with swimming trainings, it will be soooooo GOOD!!!!

Well done on proper hydration. Are you working on your nutrition well? Do you eat enough healthy foods? Hope, you’re doing great and wish you a lovely mood on this wonderful day!

Hey Kate and April :) thank you both for all your help and great advice, i really appreciate it !!

So last night i went to bed at 10:30pm after my workout and warm bath. I remember laying there and just told myself to relax and i will fall to sleep. I definately slept better, i woke up alot but would fall back asleep. And then once it was was 5:37am i was awake so i just laid there untill 6:30, took the pill and then laid in bed untill getting up at 8 for work.

I did a sneaky weigh in today, i was really going to try not to because i didnt want to unmotivate myself if it had gone up or stayed the same. But i couldnt help myself. But luckily the scales were kind and im down 2 kgs in 2 days !!! Yay really excited but im not going to jynx myself lol.

So today i worked and i ate half a chicken, cheese, avocado, lettuce sandwich, 50g smarties and for dinner 1/2 a cup rice and 1/2 a cup chicken alfredo. I mostly will eat the same thing everyday as i go through phases. I did buy some up n goes because i find im not eating anything untill after 1pm and im just worried i will slow my metabolism. So if i slowly sip on an up and go at work then hopefully that will help.

Anyway off to do my workout now and then another warm bath before bed. Im going to not play on my phone or ipad after 9:30pm and then bed at 10:30pm so hope that helps. Have a great night guys xxxx

Hey Tamara, you're welcome.
Honestly, my mood jumps up when someone says my tips are helpful a bit:laughing:
I liked your diet today, seems you decided to hit that excess weight the right way and hopefully your workouts will also help with sleep issues. Congrats on the first weight loss! No matter what these numbers means (mostly water loss), it is still a great motivation to move on. Just keep in mind that later on, the weight loss usually subside, so don't get too upset seeing little weight loss on the scales please.

Hi April,

Thank you so much I really appreciate your motivating and advice comments. I heard from the doctor the first two days are water weight as I feel not bloated anymore at all.

I did a (40 min walk) yesterday which made me feel so good beautiful day I took advantage here in Australia summer but the sun was beautiful at the beach. I had a coffee with a close friend and she noticed I had lost some weight made me feel amazing so unstoppable now.

I did a weigh in this morning 23.2.17 and I noticed I have remain the same weight as yesterday 91.6kg but apparently this is how the tablet works?
