Hi Everyone

Last night i was a little naughty but made up for it by riding and extra km so I ended up doing 2km before bed instead of one making it 12 for the day... I ate the rest of my atkins bar and had 2 sugar free biscuits (it was so good I wanted more) I am so glad I still get to use my own will power.. so instead of having another I made my half milk/water low cal drink).. I realise I am going to have a sweet in the future and whilst duromine is helping me now I need to control it in the future I need to make sure I am aware that if i have something naughty I need to eat in moderation and do extra exercise to burn it off...

Today is day 7 16th January
my weight was 103.5 a total loss of 2kg for the week

I am so pleased I didn't add any weight..... Bowell movement probaly helped with that :p Plus I don't know if that is truly a real reflection as I weighed in at 105.5 at the doctors I will see her on the 14th day mark so that will confirm how much in total I have lost, so this week going by what people say I am expecting to loose a lot less... I did say I wont weigh myself this week... that is going to be very hard:(.... as that usually helps me keep on track...... but again as long as i can see the loss that is what really counts... and I need to focus on the fact that I will be weighed in 7 days and I want to loose more weight... so I can and will do that!! ive been so slack excising and now that im doing it daily I assume my muscle might start to change my weight and the way I look. I measured my body last night so I can compare those measurements as well.

Ok so today I woke at 5 took my duromine with a large glass of water and ran to the scales LOL 40 minutes later I ate a boiled egg (no toast :(), I ate 6 prunes during the morning for a snack and had my pretend coffee drink with half almond milk and half water around 9.30am... for lunch (since it was so good) I had 8 cristini sticks with beetroot dip:) tonight i will have a lemon stir fry that I was suppose to cook last night, i will substitute pasta for zucchini noodles... never cooked it before so I hope its good Il let you know tomorrow... I have ridden 5 kms so far and will add to that as the day goes on

I hope your all going well on your journey... Remember we will do it!!! I know we will

I look forward to reading your updates :)

Dee

Hey Dee. Love reading your posts! Love that you keep it positive no matter what! I think you do have several factors that are retaining weight (muscles building + bowel troubles). Another suggestion to solve the latter would be eating kiwi (in the first half of the day. Stop eating fruit in the afternoon! ;)) ). AND another suggestion would be checking if you are drinking enough water. Poor hydration can easily provoke constipations.

As for your current weight and strength exercises… In fact, what you might need to avoid is crazy jumping, especially if you have lower back problems (by the way, you should discuss this problem with your doctor and see if he gives you good exercises for strengthening your back. Swimming can also help). Don’t underestimate the seriousness of this symptom. You need a healthy back to exercise properly and to make yourself look like a fitness goddess SOON!

For now, you can use strength exercises for your arms. Start with something small and you will get to bigger things. Fingers crossed for your success. Keep it up!

Hi April

Thanks for the tip.... Ive been eating prunes as it helps to regulate things... so good to know kiwi does the same (does green work the same as the gold one?) I will remember not to eat fruit in the afternoon thanks for the tip :) some days I drink way more than others but worse case scenario i probably have a 1-2 litres

Yes i cant do crazy jumping or my back will pay for it.... nothoing worse than beingg bed ridden....Ive had the injury for 5 years so Ive learnt what I can and cant do.... like riding i cant use a normal bike but a recumbent bike is way better but I also need regular breaks so i ride get up walk a bit do a little more etc ive been using weights for my upper body when I dance... I only jump like crazy in the pool  umm not into the pool while im in it o_O I do weights its only 500 grams but as you say start small.... when do you think i could increase the weights if i use then for 3-5 times a week I was thinking a month minimum maybe 6 weeks?... I also have a resistance band but i haven't used that recently... I might alternate that with the weights

I will feel like a fitness god if i keep this up... its taking a bit of effort but I realise I must incorporate that into my life for me to succeed in loosing weight and keeping it off... besides i can see what they mean by if you don't use it you loose it... i've lost muscle and tone in my arms... ok and legs... well if i am being honest and my tummy... ii think ive covered everything :(

have a great day/night

Dee:)

Hi Everyone
Yesterday i rode another 7kms (doing a total of 12km) that lemon stir fry was very lemony gosh did it have a tang thats what you get when you add etc lemon juice otherwise it was very nice I had 3 of those sugar free biscuits it was very hard to stop and I so wanted a 4th... instead I made my normal drink and went to bed adamant that i would start eating too much.. just hard as they taste so nice

Day 8 17th January
I woke at 5 had my tablet with a glass of water and had a poached egg with cheese on toast for breakfast... I had lunch later and again I had 8 cristini sticks and some dip spinach and feta and beetroot dip... dinner was a piece of steak with salad and beetroot.... ive done 40 minutes of dance and 2km on the bike I will do at least another 1km before bed :) thats my goal oh just remembered I also ate 8 prunes and had 2 teaspoons of Psyllium husks... lets just say i felt wonderful after lunch:rolleyes: I haven't had too much water today so I will try and set myself a goal to do that i seem to have one bad day and one good day im feeling pretty good and had a bit of energy today considering it was a 38 deg day i did well... now my get up go has turned into time to sit and relax mode before I jump back on the bike later... so off I go till tomorrow:laughing:

Hi Everyone,

I hope you are all going well on your journey?

I rode 2 km before bed last night..... I prefer to say I will ride 1 and do more, I didn't have my milk drink but I did have water

Day 9 18th January

I woke at 5 and had my tablet with a glass of water just before 6 I ate a boiled egg and also mixed some Psyllium husk in a little bit of water gosh that stuff sticks to your mouth.... for my morning snack I had a small piece of fruit cake... its full of fruit and I even came home with some so I was please I didn't eat it all... not that if i did would of mattered as it was small.. I also ate 8 prunes... bowel movement is still struggling with this change... and really the only thing ive cut is bad stuff (sweets/etc) meals have always been healthy.. maybe my dinner meals are a little smaller... anyway I will have some more Psyllium husk tonight.... I still need to buy kiwi fruit... Lunch was cristini sticks 8 and a beetroot dip i finished my other one and I must say i did not enjoy this one... dinner tonight was a curry... little rice and chipatti (flat bread) because it was a hot curry I had some lite sour cream

Ive done 5-10 minutes of dance and so far i have ridden 10km again I hope to ride at least 1km before bed... I cant say all this excising is easy but i know its the only way forward

No side affects from D so that'is a bonus...

I don't think I can go a week without weighing myself its killing me...

Till tomorrow Dee ;)

Hi Everyone,

I rode 2 km before bed last night and the last km i tried to push myself (peddling faster) to burn more calories... because... I had 3 sugar free biscuits and one small choc square and my milk drink i did feel very full... plus no bowel movement yet... really all those prunes and the husks???? anyway I decided I would weigh myself in the morning when I am naughty that helps me be good because I will feel ill seeing the scales go up when im trying to be good I know I had the cake but the whole idea for me is to moderate my food intake... take a treat as a treat and not as a mini meal.... l usually i would have 2 slices of cake instead I had half of a slice... I so wanted some last night but I as I now know its best to have fruit prior to noon thats what I will do..(thanks April) so I didn't touch it

Day 10 19th January

OMG  I have lost weight... I am 102.6 I am so so happy maybe I could loose more than a kilo this week after all.... I am inspired to keep doing what I am I tried so hard before low carbs no sweets but I also did no exercise.... as I am in my 40's that may be my helper in this along with duromine I could not get under that 103 and here I am... okay enough of me being over the moon back to my day

I had my tablet at 5 am with a glass of water and at 8 I had a slice of toast (high fiber) with tomato and a slice of cheese and two teaspoons of of my husks... finally a bowel movement (after i weighed myself).... looks like i need to make my husks and prunes a regular thing... those husks sure are hard to swallow its like eating sawdust... not that I have  even with water they swell up last night i had to eat it by the spoon i wasn't drinking a full glass with husks.. I am thinking maybe a spoonful of yogurt or with a meal I had it with a mouthful of my toast this morning and it wasn't so bad tomorrow I will have cereal that should make it go down heaps easier :)

I snacked on another half a slice of fruit cake... lunch was a bit tricky I dont like the new beetroot dip i brought :( so I had the spinach and feta one instead... again with 5 cristini sticks

I am going to cook chicken with tomato and pepper sauce with salad for dinner

I had brought a voucher so we have a meal tomorrow night (cant pick what we want I think its a chicken parma need to check with desert) I am a little nervous as I have been so good anyway I will have to exercise more to make up for it...the last thing I want is to see my scales say over 103... then again last week I gained 500 gm and I ate nothing bad.... just fluctuation of weight i guess

Ive done 35 minutes dance and will ride at least 2 km on the bike later on....

Remember we will do this o_O

Hi everyone,

So I ended up riding 3 kms I also had a hot drink and 4 sugar free biscuits

Day 11 20th January

I am back up to 103... GRRRR :mad:well it did the same thing last week I put on 500g I wonder if its the same day? I am not letting that deter me just means I have to work harder and ensure Im good... im still not eating sweets so thats good and im excising thats the main thing as i wasn't doing that before... there is always a positive in a negative:laughing:

I ended up having cereal 1/2 cup with some husks for breakfast, mid morning i snacked on fruit cake again a very small slice... I feel my hunger was really bad during the afternoon, I had 6 cristini with beetroot dip small handful of walnuts and to stop my hunger I made a very small glass of a shake of all days to be hungry it was the day we went for dinner... I ate 2 slices of bruschetta, some bbq chicken wings and pork ribs and one slice of pizza I could have eaten another but knew I was full and stopped....I had to listen to my body....I am surprised that after all this time I could eat so much... maybe I need a higher dose? I will discuss with the dr on Sunday I dont want to not eat as thats not my goal andfor me only silly as common sense says I would pile the weight on once I do start eating I just want to eat differently and less while on duromine so I can continue after duromine is no longer in my system

Exercise wise, I rode 5km earlier and I ended up riding 13km when I got home (I rode 5km on a higher number I was so dissapointed I didnt feel how hard it was:eek:.. I tried earlier and struggled to do a 1km at that number) after the meal, total of 18km with 35min of dancing and used hand weights around 15 min within that 35

I hope your all doing well and loosing weight o_O

Hi Everyone gosh its day 12 21st January

I wasn't as hungry today for some reason? We took the pizza home from yesterday and I am pleased to say its been thrown out normaly i hate wasting food but I felt bad for what I ate yesterday and just couldnt have 2 days in a row

I woke at 6 and had my tablet... I had a boiled egg for breakfast and a bacon and egg sandwich for lunch I had approx 10 walnuts during the day... and water of course a cup of tea and 2 sugar free biscuits and my sugar free drink with almond milk and water

Exercise wise I ve been good I did 50 min of dance in the morning most with hand weights and rode 10 km about half an hour ago on the higher number feeling good and i know its in my imagination but i am sure the tops of my arms feel a little firmer like a mini muscleo_O... underneath is definitely no different  but in time it will be

So tomorrow I am off to the drs I know I started duromine on the Monday and I have both days weight to compare so even thou tomorrow isnt 2 weeks im still nervous about what it might say... if its bad I have 2 weeks to improve on my monthly weight loss... Ive reached the worst part of my life...weight wise:( so these changes are positive :laughing:no matter what... ive never done so much regular and daily exercises like I have in the last 2 weeks and I think by coming onto the thread everyday and being accountable has helped me immensely... I still struggle but I am determined to make a change and that starts with me

Wishing you all the best on your weight loss and don't forget...we will do this! It might take a little longer than we hope but if we can make a change and stick to it....we are winners :)

Till tomorrow

Hey Dee, as always, comprehensive reports on your progress really help understand what is going on with you and how you are struggling with yourself. I think you are doing a fantastic job! Happy to know you have no more Duromine side effects. (As for kiwi, I only tried the green ones and I know they do help solve the bowel movement problem. You have to eat two. I think, somewhere in the middle of the day.) As for husks, you are right. With yogurt, it will be easier for you to swallow them. I used to make myself such a sort of treat: yogurt, husks and cinnamon. Tastes nice and easier to get in. ;)

Btw, did you carefully check the contents of your almond milk? Read very very carefully, as there are so many mean manufacturers. The drink can include cane sugar and sea salt no matter what you see marked in large characters on the pack. These two are surely not your best friends in the evening.

Your exercises seem to be getting more intense in time and it’s great you keep increasing your bike load and distance you ride. Do you check your heart rate while riding? It’s also important for an efficient burning of calories, you know.

I think, what you need Dee, is to not get overexcited when you see your scales showing less than 103 again, because I think you start allowing yourself some cheat-treats and your weight gets back on and you again start feeling down. What you do should next time you see the scales showing 102 (and you will see!!!) is to add up some more strictness. You might consider developing a schedule for your meals. Sit down, write down and start teaching your body that you will eat and train at certain times. Don’t eat immediately before or after your workouts! Keep drinking enough water, please. Your body does need water, especially when you exercise. Congrats with firmer arms (it’s just the beginning). And yes, you do need about 6 weeks to strengthen your muscles until you get on with more serious strength exercises. However, I am insisting on you trying to get into the pool and go see a professional for your back. Your abs also get very relaxed when your back muscles are not strong enough. Good luck, dear! Fingers crossed for your progress!

Sunday Day 13 22 January

My scales showed 102.5 golly gosh I was very happy:laughing:… Dr took my BP all is good so I can keep going with the D her scales showed my weight at 103 so a loss of 2 ½ kilo in 2 weeks she was very happy with the loss and I am too… I worked etc hard on Saturday to make up for Friday… I felt really bad eating so much… I felt like I had let myself down, normally I would have the left overs for lunch but just couldn’t do it as much as I don’t like throwing food away. I ended up throwing it all out… I told my dr about how I am still hungry and at the end of the month she will increase my dosage as this month was to give my body time to adjust and also for her to see how my body is handling ito_O

If I can keep myself busy I don’t think about food but when I have time on my hands is when I do… and stopping.. I guess I may have eaten a bit on Friday but I did stop when I had my 2 sugar free biscuits I went to have a 3rd and stopped myself.. I haven’t done this hard work just to undo it so I need to use my own will power and at times that’s hard especially at night I can feel that desire to snack on something sweet… so when I do I get my glass of water if I have already eaten my biscuits and go to bed…

Breakfast was a boiled egg and lunch was another bacon and egg sand which snacks during the day included 7 hazelnuts and 10 pecans, and 2 sugar free biscuits for dinner I did a mini fritter? Potato zucchini and carrot with egg

I danced for 45 minutes 30 of that was with weights and I rode 2km… back was a little sore I spent the afternoon tidying up so I could use the vibration machine… I succeeded…. Gosh it felt good I could feel it shaking fat the dancing doesn’t… just have to careful which way I position myself or I can feel it my back… like anything I just need to minor it and if it starts to get sore I must stop…so I ended up doing 10 minutes I got off feeling itchy so I know some fat was all shaken up

I purchased some of those protein bars :cool:and will use them as a treat instead of my sugar free biscuits just so I have something

I hope your all doing well on your journey Dee

Monday Day 14…. 2 weeks of excising and eating good and I can proudly say… goodbye 103!! Gosh I didn’t weigh myself day 1? So I am assuming going by yesterday at the drs her scales are 500 heavier than mine so Total loss of 2.6 kilos. Doesn’t really matter im in the 102 so that’s great and im excising regularly… go me!! It’s becoming a habit now something I must do… last night I was so tired and my back was sore but I made sure I rode 2km I said to myself I would do 1km but I was able to do more and I rode at the higher number!!

Hello 102.4:laughing: (me doing happy dance)

(2 days of 102 that’s a good sign) (oh I am not far from 101 YIPPEE I could be close to 100 by the end of January that would be amazing.. Just thinking of being under 100 nearly makes me cry….

I need to measure myself this week to see if I have lost cm… my work pants around my waist are not looser… il see what the measuring tape says

Back is feeling a little sore today, (its always sore but some days are worse than others so I need to be extra careful), I don’t want to flare anything up that stops me excising, so I have done 40 mins on the Vibration machine and 5km bike
Breakfast was cereal with some husks I have worked out, eating it with a meal is the way to go and its easier to swallow with a mouthful of food.. So far my bowel movement is back on track.. small piece for fruit cake (3 tablespoons)... my pretend coffee drink

Lunch was cristini sticks and some beetroot dip

Dinner was half a duck breast and some vegies.. plus ive had 2 sugar free biscuits

Nearly time for bed so I am going to ride 1km before I do go... feeling a little jittery? maybe from the vibration machine earlier? I did break it up during the day into 5-10 minute intervals.... I will see if I feel the same tomorrow and pay more attention after i get off the machine

Till tomorrow... o_O

l had no access on Sunday to the forum? I kept a note and updated my thread yesterday

Hi April, Thanks for the tip I love cinnamon... I have brought some kiwi so will alternate them as my fruit for the day and alternate with husks...
My almond milk only contains .3 sugar 50 calories per 250 ml and i have half milk half water ;)
Yes l am now riding on one number up:laughing:... yes l monitor my rate l will ride hard bring my rate up then ride slower for a bit to lower it.... sometimes i start at 72 average 118 will go to 134....

I now have 3 days of being in 102 ... once l see it increase...l pull myself back (but your right my mind is probably saying you can have an extra treat but when it goes back up I am extra good for some time) l usually have set times for eating its the snacking at night that's an issue l am getting better... l set myself a max of 2 biscuits for after dinner... mum gave me a recipe for a desert it just has an egg and little sour cream l am yet to make it and she says its very nice and very few cal :) l try to drink 2-3 liters a day... and will drink while working out as i sweat so much and im thirsty...l have a pool and try to use when water is warm... l have had bad back for 5 years....and seen a few professionals who have given me tips and exercises like you say for my tummy area as that helps with the back.... I have learnt to listen to my body... l will break my exercises up and rest when l need to as l have trouble sitting for too long, l could not ride a normal bike but recumbent is different as I sit back not forward,,,, but i still stop stand when I need to....I cant stand in one spot either for too long... so i have learnt over the years when not to push myself on Sunday I moved my leg too far out and that is what made my back extra sore so I will not do that again... its all trial and error as long as I don't continue doing something when i feel a sharp pain or burning sensation i know i am doing something right

Thanks again for your tips :) Dee

Hi all- very new forums in general but started on Duromine 15mg yesterday and wanted to keep a journal on my progress. I thought this would be a good platform to do so- it might keep me honest ;-).
I would love to hear of others success stories on Duromine.

A little about me:
Age 40
Height 170cm
Pre marriage (10 years ago) I was weighing between 55-60kg - although not really toned.
Pre-kids (7 years ago) and following 3 years of marriage - I crept up to 65-70kg,
Post kids (3) : I reached my heaviest of 85kg (pregnant I hit 90kg+) carrying weight mostly in my tummy and face (ugh!)

Over the last 6-12 months - I have managed to get down to 76kg (loss of around 9kg) following a gallbladder infection, and making some very small changes to my diet. I smoke and drink a can of V energy every day. I dont drink coffee or alcohol, so the energy drink and ciggies are my only vices. I walk for 1/2 hour a day (when I can) but I am pretty sedentary in nature generally. I have been hovering at 76kg for a while now and just had enough. I lacked the motivation to get up and walk and started feeling depressed and fat. This summer has been hot, and being hot and fat has really been hard.

Yesterday I started duromine 15mg.

Stats:
Duromine Start weight: 76kg
AUS dress size 14
First mini goal: 70kg
Second mini goal 65kg
End goal 60kg
OMG Goal weight: 55kg - (gives me 5kg to play with for things like xmas and other celebrations...)

Day 1: Feeling good - motivated enough to get up and walk and drank loads of water. Found chewing gum worked to counteract the dry mouth. Terrible sleep last night.. but surprisingly feel quite refreshed today.

I will post weekly stats in regards to weight loss- and try and refrain from checking myself daily (although its an obsession).

Hi Kate, Thank youo_O... today's reading is even lower... il be back on later to share...

Duromine has helped with the willpower plus coming on here everyday and keeping a diary has helped, at first I struggled, I didn't want to come on 2 days in a row and say I didn't do my goal of the day.. so that started this routine...I do struggle at times but if I cant do it now with the help of duromine I never will... I'm sick of never really trying... sure I ate healthy main meals but would snack heaps and not exercise I was letting myself down... and looking in the mirror only to see what looks like a grape sitting on watermelon looking back at me wasn't enough i would ignore it and say it isn't that bad....I was so mad that I couldn't do it... I want a baby and I would say to myself over and over again...well not enough you haven't lost weight... its taken me a good 2 years to get to this stage, I think I am more determined to make it work...

I know I will only have 3 months to do this with D and before I eat a 3rd biscuit I say to myself why take duromine if you cant commit.... after all its stops my bad cravings all I have to do is realise I am not changing if I snack too much .. (i know it will happen but as long as its a one off in a month and not a habit I think that is okay... I have to be realistic I am not perfect) last Friday when I did eat too much I felt so guilty I had to work extra hard to feel like I compensated in some way I have never felt that way before It was like I wasted a day in my 3 months and that day could mean a loss of 200g which could turn out to be 1kg at the end of the week....if I kick start things now and make a routine I plan on making these good habits last for life... I will do it this time

Yes that is correct I like to think all small losses turn into a big one eventually

Enjoy the rest of your week

Dee
