Hello Karen! How are you doing? Any improvement in your sleep? Or you had to stop Duromine?

Hi! Haven't any real side effects at all. Still sleeping well and I think it has helped suppress my appetite. No surge of energy or anything which I wouldn't have minded haha.

I have only lost half a kilo which is disappointing seeing other peoples results but least the scales are going down which hasn't happened for a while!

Hi JCL! Sounds great that you don’t have any side effects and do have the appetite suppression. =) Energy surge doesn’t always come… 30 mg might provide you this… =)

But let’s focus on what we have now. Could you please provide some information about your weight loss program that you are following? Did you visit the dietician like you were planning? Let’s see what you are doing and what else can be done to promote faster weight loss. That is, of course, if you want me to give some suggestions… I am not pushing.

Have a nice day!

Hi meangirl,
Thank you for your reply. How are you going with everything? Are you having any side effects? How much exercise are you doing if any?

I lost 4kg in the first week and am taking photos weekly. I am walking 30minutes to an hour per day.

The side effects I have felt have been a sore neck which I read others have felt too. Dry mouth, a dull headache, irritability, exhausted by the end of the day and like a space cadet at work.

My boyfriend asked me if I had lost some weight, I said I'm not sure. But was stoked he could notice

Hey... reat to hear from you... only took it for a week and then had to stop. i sprained my arm and couldn't do much. started again yesterday and so far so good. i try to work out every morning at 4:30 am.. Yes i know thats a crazy time but i get home too late from work.

Food wise I have reduced carbs (and cut out alcohol!) and sticking to a 1200 calorie diet so I really thought that itself would show on the scales. And exercise I have put my fitbit back on and aim to do 10,000 steps and 60 minutes of active exercise a day.

With the food I have stuck to it religiously and exercise I have reached my target 5 out of the 7 days.

I am seeing the dietician on Friday so hopefully that will shed a bit of light.

So an average day would be:

2 x scrambled eggs with spinach and avocado (no cream / butter / milk)
Couple of black coffees
Fruit for morning tea
Zucchini slice and salad for lunch or leftovers from the night before
Fruit / carrot for afternoon tea
Dinner is normally meat and veg/salad or a 'skinny' curry - generally around the 400 calorie mark.

Any suggestions are welcome. Since can only be on duromine for 12 weeks and I am disappointed week one had disappointing results on the scale.

My doctor did say my blood test results showed that I may have PCOS so am wondering if duromine will help if I do have that.

Duromine can help you lose weight. however, the weight loss rate might be a bit slower… or not… you can never tell for sure. It might be harder for you to reach your goals the same quickly as some others manage, yet you can get there in small steps. I hope that the dietician will help you and will develop a good eating plan. If he doesn’t I would suggest you to ask him do it. I am sure he will also be able to provide some instructions on physical activity. I am not sure if what you are doing is not too much. fingers crossed for a highly qualified nutritionist and your weight loss in the nearest future. =) Chin up!

Thank you! Will keep going and am sure the results will eventually show :)

Hi everyone!

For me this has been a long journey of healthy diet and exercise with little/no payoff no matter how hard I work.
I went to the doctors to do the usual tests to see if I was lacking in anything, any thyroid problems, hormones out of whack etc and nothing came back wrong! He decided to prescribe me duromine with a 3 month prescription.

My starting weight is now the biggest I've ever been.. 111kg! I promised myself 2 years ago I'd never hit 100 and I've gone 11kg over that and that completely devestates me.

I don't really have a goal weight because due to my height my 'healthy weight range' is like 45-55 kgs and I don't think that I will ever really be in that range because when I am smaller I often carry a lot of muscle. I guess ideally I'd like to be around the 60-65 mark?

For my first big goal I would love to get under 80 which is a loss of 31kgs. I know that that is quite a big goal and unlikely that I will reach it in the first 3 months so I am not putting a tight time limit on it.

Instead my first mini goal will be 8kgs of which I will hopeful achieve in the first month.

I already have reasonable eating habits however I do have the tendency to eat more when I am stressed which this last year I have been! Hopefully with the suppressant of my appetite I will only make the good decisions and be able to stick to that habit afterwards.

I've just taken my first pill around an hour ago... no side affects or any different feelings so far. Does it tend to take a little while to kick in?

Thanks for reading I look forward to going on this journey with all of you :)

Sam

Day 1 update.

Had a dry mouth most of yesterday. I am normally a good water drinker usually consuming around 2-3 litres a day but I would say I probably had about 4 litres yesterday!

I didn't really get a surge of energy or the classic 'desire to clean everything' feeling I've read about. Am hoping today's dose brings that as I actually need to fully clean the house!

I feel as if I was actually more hungry than usual in some parts of the day but I certainly had much smaller portions than usual and just had a quick snack if I felt any hunger pains (like a raw ball, carrots, rice cracker etc).

In terms of sleeping I fell asleep quite early as I had been exhausted from the work day. But I woke up at 12 and it did take me longer to fall back asleep. I then woke up again about an hour later and I'm awake now at 3.40am. I've got a pretty bad headache so just keeping up with the water intake and if it's still bad when I get up in the morning I'll have some panadol.

Hopefully I'm able to fall back asleep now... at least until 6 when I take my next pill!

Day 2

Had a terrible headache most of the day so felt pretty lethargic and didn't go to the gym as I planned. My partner was having a birthday party in the night time so in the day we cleaned the house and went for a walk and I hit my step goal.

Being his birthday I had 2 drinks but then switched over to soda water and lime which was a pretty big move for me normally I'll shut down absolutely every drink handed to me. Food wise I had very little 'party food' I had the plain healthier versions of corn chip and hummus and at the pub had like 3 hot chips that were on the table. Even though u struggled to say 'no' to food and alcohol I certainly kept it in moderation.

Unfortunately the headache never really went away and I was extremely tired so I can home before midnight while he went out with some of our friends. Unfortunately despite feeling exhausted I didn't sleep very well at all with a very broken sleep.

Day 3

I decided not to take the pill this morning as I was still feeling terrible from the previous day and if you knew me you'd know that I don't handle lack of sleep well AT ALL. I still felt as if I was on the pill though as I had the dry mouth and slight jittery feeling.

I made mostly good food choices today as well as kept up the eating smaller serving sizes more frequently to try and boost my metabolism.

Just missed out on my step goal today, I did a load of housework though and walked to the shops to get the ingredients for dinner.

Back on the pills tomorrow and have a long day at work so am hoping for minimal side effects.

I'm now in bed and writing this up because I'm still struggling to sleep.

I'll update in a few days I suppose!

Hello SamBam! Looks like everything is going pretty well for you, aside from lack of sleep and fatigue.,. It’s good that you missed the pill. Hopefully it will help. However, I see that it acts longer on your body so I guess you might be considering the possibility of skipping a day here and there.

High five on wise food choices and being so physically active. Fingers crossed for a better night’s sleep and welcome to the forum! Hope you will enjoy your weight loss journey and results!

Thanks April!

I am going to try and do 2 days on and 1 day off and see how that goes!

Slept a bit better last night so I'm happy about that :) hope all is well with you!

Aww, thank you ! I am doing great! Especially now that I know your sleep problems start to diminish. Hopefully, you will be able to exercise to the full force in no time. =) feeling weary due to no or little sleep usually doesn’t let us continue exercising even though we know we must. =) besides, it is quite bad to force your body work even more when it is already exhausted. Let’s see how your plan works and wish you a great night’s sleep tonight! Cheers

So weigh in day was this morning!
CW: 108.2
SW: 111
First mini goal: 103
Loss this week: -2.8kg!

I'm happy to see the number go down for sure! I know a lot of this loss is probably water weight etc but I'm happy regardless!

The last 3 days I had two days on the pill one day off and didn't have any terrible symptoms like the headache but I did feel somewhat tired.

I've been doing between 10000 and 15000 steps most day and trying to have active exercise at least every other day.

Next week is my anniversary and so I will be taking 2 days off the pill for that as I will want a drink to celebrate but I am going to do my absolute best to not go overboard in any of the things that I eat or drink and I know that the hotel we are staying at has a gym so u will make the effort to go there as well!

Today is my off day for the pill and then on sat/sun/mon so I can have my tues/weds off.

I also have to go for emergency dental work Monday night do you think it's fine for me to take it that morning as I'll likely be given some kind of pain killers for that?

Hello Lavitabella! Welcome to the forum and I wish you all the best for this weight loss journey! Hope you will enjoy it to the fullest =))

Leave aside the negative attitude and focus on this possibility with just one thought “I can do it!”

PS. Duromine is nothing like these slimming aids you were taking, so carefully monitor your health once you start. Best of luck!

Hi SamBam, looks like you got everything scheduled to a T. =) what can I say, your plan works great! The weight loss is cool, you seem to be very motivated and well done on your physical activity level! Very wise to not have Duromine for your b-day party.

As for the dental work… I am a real coward when it comes to mixing Duromine with ANY drug. Or using it while having ANY intervention… so I would say NO WAY, no Duromine that day! And may be the next, if you are injected something… just to avoid possible interaction.

I am sure you will look stunning on that anniversary of yours. I am sure you will get a lot of compliments from your friends and family. Enjoy the celebration and definitely get into that gym. If you don’t want to stay there for a long time, at least use the treadmill or the bike for a 15 minute HIIT ride. HOWEVER, if it happens so that you take in hm.. larger doses of alcohol the evening before, avoid the gym. Let your body cope with one problem at a time =)) take care and keep up the wonderful work on yourself!

Good luck to you. Please follow the method and control your self and always remember this is for you to be healthy. Once you can hold on with your own control diet than no need duromine. This drug is not a supplement anyway.
