Food & Diet Plans

Hi, I am really pleased with the results so far. I am taking glucophage for the sugar, it's a white tablet, and really affordable. (R23, enough for a month).

I am almost out of duro (probably have enough for about a week.)
My weight is down to 85kg, but as I say, the Jeans are really what motivates me. This weekend, I wore a pair of jeans which I have not been able to fit into, since 2008!! I was over the moon!

I would strongly suggest that you start searching for info on low carb foods. It will not only help your loose weight, but help reduce your blood-sugar levels. I don't think the weight would have come off this quickly and easily if I had not done this. Because now I know which foods to avoid. I am making a habbit of reading labels, and if I am not sure, I google for nutritional information on certain foods.

Like this guy (in the link) suggests, I try to eat less than 50 carbs per day. Not always possible, but I try.
All the best with your decision. For me, getting back to my pre-baby weight is really a big thing. I am very happy in my marriage, love my kids, but just extremely unhappy with my figure. And I am the only one who can change that. And once you need to punch another hole into your belt, or fit into a smaller pants, you already have so much motivation, that it gets easier every day.

Thank you so much for the positive response. You have really managed to motivate a desparate soul!! And congratulations with your fantastic achievement. You must be super proud of yourself :)

Hey all,

I am 85kgs and I am 1.6m tall. I have to lose close to 30kgs. Today is Day 1. Not hungry bt have a lightheaded feeling and a headache. Im on the 30mg. Any tips or ideas or how to do this? eating plans will be helpful.

I don't have a plan, I eat whatever I want, then I lose my appetite so quick it's like I have barely eaten a thing! What I am saying is I don't go all out and do the whole measuring and counting calories, I am aware of what I am eating, I don't mean I go out and eat pies, pizza chocolates, although I still have a little bit of choccy! I have stopped drinking alcohol tho, I was drinking wine nearly every night and spirits with coke weekends, I was just piling it on, now I don't even feel like drinking..and that's what's helping me lose as well as the D. Just started exercising so hopefully should see results soon.
Good luck on your journey :)

Morning guys, hope you well..... You dont have to go on a special eating plan... just cut out all the junk foods..... and eat 5-6 times a day... like me on a typical day will have cereal for breakfast at 8 or 9am and then by 11am I will have a fruit and then by 1pm I would have lunch fruit salad or provitas with cottage chees, by 3pm I would have another fruit and by 5:30pm I would have supper, skinless chicken breast that I grill in my George Forman machine with a green salad and would not eat after that again until I have breakfast the next morning.... and I drink about 3ltrs of water throughout the day and until before I go sleep....

Hope that was helpful....:)

Hi there, thank you. How long are you on duromine?

Hi, I started 30mg today. I'm 165cm and 115kg so I'm hoping this will be the kick start I need. So far I feel as though I haven't taken one, I'm still hungry and no other side effects. I took it at 7.30am and it's now 6pm. Do you think I will notice it more on the second day?

Hey, Drink lots of water. By the afternoon I started to feel full and wasn't hungry. Take the duromine earlier than that or you will have trouble sleeping. I suggest 6am. but before 7am.

Hi I am curious as to how many calories/kJ people are consuming on average? I joined the Duromine livelite webpage and they start at 1500cals. I told my dr I would be doing a 1200cal plan off myfitnesspal, and log everything. What was successful for you? TIA

I consume between 1200-1500, and one day a week I treat myself to chocolate!! Used to eat the whole block (large) no problems, since taking duromine , which has only been 4 wks now, I am down to just a couple of rows or 6 pieces, and totally does me, don't even really think about it at all now, don't crave it like I used too, and believe when my nxt chocolate day is due ,I may skip it altogether :)
I do exercise no less than 5 times a wk, 4 weight sessions and 5 cardio...
Good luck to you on your journey :)

I count carbs, and try to eat less than 50g carbs per day. If you start reading the nutritional info labels, it may seem impossible, but it really can be done. It just takes doing a bit of research, and the results are great!
I log what I eat on a food tracking app, and that way I can see how my food choises impacted on my carb consumption for the day. And on days when I do really well (eating much less than 50g carbs), I allow myself a treat, like a biscuit or a liquorice sweet!

I just Googled how many I should be eating. I put in my measurements and weight, age and gender and it gave me how many I should eat to lose weight, maintain my weight or starve myself. For my stats I'm on 2,030 cals per day but I'm naturally eating around only half that. I also keep track of any surplus calories I have that I haven't used up. I figure if one day I get really hungry or I'm out somewhere and can't eat as well as I should, I have a bit of a buffer so I don't fall off the wagon. I started a food diary too including a comments section for how I'm feeling and coping and any issues or side effects I'm having. It will give me a good idea of where I'm at and if the doctor needs to know my progress I have it all there in front of me.

I'm also trying to eat Paleo because I find it works best with my tummy and stops me from bloating. I'm going to the radiologist on Thursday to get an ultrasound of my lower abdomen because the doc thinks part of my rapid massive weight gain over the last 12 months could be hormone/ovaries related.

Nearly two years later and I'm back, don't know if I should be embarrassed :( or excited :). Never the less going to give this a go with a vengeance. With regards to eating plans / diets, what is your take on the latest craze about Banting. I have read the book the Tim Noakes wrote The Real Meal Revolution and have heard so many amazing success stories. It is basically a low carb, medium protein, high fat diet. Cutting out carbs and sugar can only be good for weight loss.
